Forget about time when it comes to deliberate practice

Deep practice is not measured in minutes or hours. It is measured in high-quality repetitions. Why? This is how our brain forms new connections through purposeful practice.

Instead of timing ourselves with our iPhones or watches, let’s count our reaches and repetitions.
Old behaviour: Practice the guitar for twenty minutes.
New behaviour: Practice a specific song five times, all the way through — five high-quality repetitions.
My practice: Instead of reading a book or textbook, I make flashcards and mind-maps.

Purposeful, Deep Practice = Reach & High-Quality Repetitions.
