How can I get organized at home?

Tomorrow is going to be just like today. How do I know?
Because today was just like yesterday.
Unless we get out of the hypnotic state and trance, we live in.
Unless we dig ourselves out of rut-ville.
Unless we design our lives differently. Unless we create change.
To change our lives, we must implement systems and change our actions.
The easiest way to create behaviour change is to change our environment.
We can use this as motivation to get organised at home.

As a passionate organiser, I often see people have not through actual activity related to getting stuff done. This means homes end up being set up inefficiently, diminishing our productivity, leaving us to feel overwhelmed, frustrated and wondering why things aren’t working or why we simply aren’t getting things done.

Our homes need to be zoned for our current goals and aspirations.
Ask yourself this: Why is my top outcome to achieve this month? What daily, weekly and monthly activity could it take to get this done? Do I have a space dedicated, designed and set up to accomplish this? What about the other family members in the household?

How often do you use it?
Our homes can look pretty and organised, but they also have to be practical.
Ask yourself: How often do I use this item?
Is it daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly?
Just like items are merchandised in a supermarket or store, homes need to be organised by frequency so that it’s a system that is easy to maintain and easy to use.
Put things that you use daily at the front, then arrange by weekly and monthly usage.

Whether we are on the scale from hoarders very occasional members of the clutterclub, what’s one thing we can do today, to get started, no matter our decluttering and organising skills?
Adopt the Rule of Three
Every time we get up from our desk or walk through a room, put away three things. Or, each hour, devote three minutes to de-cluttering.
