For some, it’s still vacay time, while some of us were back to work today. One thing we can be sure of, as we return to our missions, our careers, work or the grind — whatever name we call how we invest our time — we need agile, iterative pathways to be more resilient in 2021.

The goal is not to be perfect.
The goal is to be better today than we were yesterday.
Stuff happens in life.
Not every day is a great day.
We can’t control everything that happens to us.
But we can control what we make things mean.
And what we choose to do next.

Off-track? No problem. Try and get back on track as soon as possible, as soon as we notice.
In order to do this?
We must know where we are today, where we are headed and have a pathway to get there.
To take daily action, notice what we are getting, and pivot, change and iterate.
To trade expectations for appreciation.
To flex our gratitude muscle as often as possible.

How can we actively practice building resilience and our gratitude muscle?

The Gratitude Habit.
Do it like this:
After I lay my head on the pillow at night, I will say one thing I am grateful for and celebrate with a smile.
