I’ve been having issues with my car lately. Well, not really.
It was due in for a service, but considering I’ve hardly driven the thing in the past 18-months, I’ve been putting it off.
That is, until the radiator started leaking.
I never do this, by the way. I always have a full-service record, and take absolute care to keep my vehicles in top order.
Putting things off—them not being clean, organised, functional, and in excellent condition— it’s not something I’m willing to start or lower my standards to. So I took immediate, swift action to sort this out!
I googled. Found a service and repair centre within my 5km travel zone with great reviews, booked the A1 in, dropped her off, and the team at Total Auto Centre gave her a good seeing to, and she’s back all sparkly, white and new-looking—inside and out!
The centre did an excellent job and returned her with a bottle of vino to boot.
This got me to thinking about a couple of things.
Appreciation, gratitude and showing it.
And going over and above for your customers.
What do you do when you receive excellent service?
Tell people? (Word of mouth)
Write a review?
Give someone 4 or 5 stars? (but no written review)
Recommend the person to a friend, colleague, acquaintance (etc.)?
Or something else?
I asked a couple of people, and they said they would likely give a review for over and above service if prompted.
But otherwise? They would likely tell someone, especially if asked or the opportunity for a story came up.
In the southern hemisphere, I’m finding there is loads of negative energy.
Uncertainty around our businesses.
Stress over our survivals,
And current and ongoing, future lockdowns.
I’ve been thinking about what we can do to create upside, feel good, that takes very little time or energy, boosts morale, is uplifting, and benefits many, including businesses and business owners who are doing it tough. You know—ways to add sparkle into our own lives, and the lives of others too—on the daily.
Share Our Experiences
If we receive great service, excellent service, or products/services which are over and above our expectations, we can invest time to share our appreciation and experience with others somehow.
For example, one of the ways in the list I wrote above (share on social, write a review, WOM etc.).
It doesn’t take much time,
And it feels really good.
And it’s super useful and valuable.
Here’s an example of a review I wrote today—
Reviews help consumers when they are looking for solutions.
Reviews help businesses and business owners.
It’s really up to you how you choose to share your appreciation and experiences — it’s an expression of who you are and how you like to do things as a person.
If, after reading this, do you think you’ll do anything differently? Try something new?
DM me, leave a message or comment below. I would love to know if this had an impact, even if it’s for one person or one business.
