What we need to be reminded of whenever our world has been turned upside down.
Every one of us has a unique opportunity to make an impact. However, to be agents of change, we must live the principles we believe and speak; otherwise, we are left to be seen as incongruent and ultimately untrustworthy.
We are the problem, and we are the solution. I believe each of us has been put on the planet this lifetime for a specific purpose. While we busy ourselves with what we do, we distract ourselves. We distract ourselves, so we do not need not to pay attention to the big stuff—the important stuff— so we don’t need to think about what our purpose is, and whether or not we are fulfilling it. While we are struggling with keeping our head above water in our day to day lives, it might seem ridiculous to be thinking about purpose, but more than ever we need to start focusing on creating a vision we can live into, in the future. Something bigger than ourselves. Something fulfilling. Our legacy. Something to keep us going, especially on those days when it feels all too much. When we feel like curling up into a ball and giving up; when we feel hopeless, and the light at the end of the tunnel is dim, if there at all.
Our daily actions might not change the world. But if we save one life—starting with our own—that one life can create a rippling effect in saving another life. Before we know it, we will wake up one day and realise we have made a significant change in this world. And where could we start? Start by being congruent and controlling how we lead ourselves and live our lives. Living our principles—walking our talk, so to speak. Being the change we wish to see.
